I know you are....but what am I?

The last few weeks I have noticed how ignorant some people are. I mean of course I have always noticed when people don't say thank you when you hold the door open or don't say please when they ask for something. So the bitch that I am always says "you're welcome" when I hold the door open for someone and they don't say thank you. They never know what to say to that. This little bitchy habit of mine has also been passed down to Tenzie.

I mean if manners can be passed on so can bitchy attitudes towards people who don't have them.

I was reading a magazine article and it opened my eyes to how rude some people can be. So I decided to do a little experiment. I would pay more attention to how people act. People seem to act so annoyed these days by having to do their jobs and just be polite to people in general.

Why is this? This makes me mad.

Mark, Tenzie and I recently went for supper at a popular restaurant, I won't name names but let's just say it rhymes with Hontanas. There was a young gentleman that was working as the host. He looked at us with boredom and said "how many?". I replied "Three please". He looked back at us, let out this huge sigh, rolled his eyes and said "follow me".

Like hello little jerkola this is not a hard job to take people to their seats and hand them menus.

The other thing of late that is on my annoying list is young girls working at grocery stores who insist on talking about their weekend plans including getting drunk and who hooked up with who as they are pulling my groceries over the scanner. I actually said to one not long ago "I am sorry is this a bad time, would you like me to come back?"

Manners are important people!! Be happy you have work and be nice to your customers. If you don't like people, don't be in a job where you have to do customer service! If someone holds a door open for you, say thank you!

Dreaming of Lovely Things

I am a busy little bee planning Sarah's baby shower and I came upon this site.

Oh in a future life I need to be a party planner where I can use little lovelies like this all of the time!

Check out their website for some inspiration.

Budget Tool

An organized house is a great thing but organized finances is a huge part of that. I found this awesome website that has a really great interactive tool for budgets.

Give Pear Budget a whirl, hopefully it can help you get organized. You can try it free for 30 days and then $4.95 a month after that.

Happy Valentines Day to my Boo Boo

Mark and I on our wedding day.

"I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person you
want to annoy for the rest of your life" Rita Rudner

I never wanted to get married a second time. Living in sin was fine by me! I met Mark and he took me by surprise. I had decided I would stay in Edmonton one last summer and have some fun while my girls were gone away with their dad. I met Mark in June and fell so head over heels in love we moved in by September.

We built a life together and I was still fine being not married. We talked about it from time to time but nothing really came of it. One snowy night I came home from A Parents' Council Meeting and the house was all dark. I walked in and the girls handed me a clue. It was a treasure hunt. Each clue lead me closer to the treasure. The treasure was Mark on one knee surrounded by candle light. He was holding the final piece of paper that said "Would you marry me?"

Mark is everything a man should be. He plays hockey (very important sexy trait to a Canadian girl! hehe), he can fix ANYTHING, he makes me laugh everyday, he is a great dad and helloooo has THE nicest ass I have ever seen. He is always there to help the kids with their homework or coach one of their teams. He is always the one people call when they need advice on how to fix something or if they need a hand. He is a really nice guy.

Life hasn't always been easy and we tend to argue over silly things but like Mark always says at the end of the day, there is nobody else I would rather fight and make up with.
A few pictures of me and my honey over the years. You know when you are sick and you just want to go home? Mark is home for me.

Organizing Tip ~ Dealing with Manuals etc.

If you are anything like ours you have a tonne of manuals for electronics, tools and household appliances. You also have all of the warranty paperwork and receipts. All of these papers can be daunting and really where do you store them all?

I came up with a great solution a few years ago. I found these plastic folders at Walmart. I usually buy a pack of 4 for around $3.00 or $4.00 dollars. They are fantastic because they are very durable, you can write on the front with a sharpie and they can
handle repeated opening and closing.

I write on the front what information the folder will contain, for example RCA 50" TV. I also write the date we purchased the item. Inside I put all of the information such as warranty, manual and receipts that go along with it. I store all of these folders in a clear bin from Ikea. This way all of the information for our major purchases are kept together. It is a great way to find information when you have to get something fixed or look up something in the manual.

Happy Organizing!

I am in Blog Overload!!

I love reading other peoples' blogs! Of course I tend to gravitate towards blogs that share the same interest as me...families, photography, organizing, DYI projects for the house and crafting. Last year I started making a "Favorites" list of blogs to check out and another list of ones that I fell in love with right away and follow weekly.

Over the last few weeks I have been going through that list to check out but here is the problem...On every blog is at least 10 other blogs that peak my interest. So now that list is sitting at over 300!

I never knew there were so many fantastic blogs out there. How do you choose which one to read? I am also busy adding projects to do my "dream project list". So many inexpensive cute things to create!

BooBoo if you are reading this, I promise I won't start any new ones until I finish the ones I have started! Mwah..love you hehe

My Gold Medal Winners!

This was a very exciting weekend for our girls. Tenzie who usually plays U14 was asked to play with Morgan on her U18 team this weekend for their tournament. All of the team played great all weekend. In their final game, Tenzie scored on a penalty shot and then Morgan got the game winning goal. Very exciting times!! Their team won Gold...I love that they share such a passion of the sport that I loved playing so much growing up.

A few weeks ago I put a post on FB about my desire to create a crafting space in my home. With three teenagers and a home business I didn't think I had the space. Well my friend Tracy from Thru the Attic Door did some research for me and I thought I would share her hard work! I love so many of these spaces and I am going to pull ideas from a couple of them when I finally get to
have my little space.

Pennies for Peace

I am grumpy today, it wasn't anything in particular just a lot of little things. I moped around most of the day being grumpy and bitchy. On the way to the store tonight Tenzie started telling me about Pennies for Peace. She was very excited, they learned about the founder through a book they read in school. She started digging in my car for all of my extra pennies and then asked if she could take all of the pennies from the jar at the house. Of course I said yes. Have you ever tried to say no to one of the cutest girls with the biggest brown eyes?

Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago, this mama was still grumpy and then I heard the crash of hundreds of coins onto Morgan's bed. Morgan had just got home from work and Tenzie had now convinced Morgan to share her pennies as well. Seems like a very small gesture but sitting down here listening to them visit and talk about their days while they sort pennies for kids who don't have school supplies made me realize being grumpy was a waste of the day. A penny buys these children a pencil. A pencil that they can use to learn and have a future. Instead of learning how to shoot a gun, they are learning how to read and write.

Of course there will be a lot more grumpy days I am sure but maybe on those grumpy days, we can go penny hunting and remember what is important. I am not sure how I happened to be blessed with children who like to help others so much but it sure makes my heart happy.

Operation NICE

I have this friend who is the sweetest girl. She posts the most inspiring daily tidbits on Facebook and when I am having a rough day, it is often those words that help.

I was looking through her blog and found a link to this site Operation NICE.

The whole idea of this site is wouldn't the world be a better place if there was a little more nice in it. Hold the door open, say please and thank, give a stranger a smile or your place on the bus.

Of course I try and raise my kids to do this anyway but what if we all went out of our way?

The friend who's blog I saw this on actually posted a few pictures on her facebook. She has been leaving inspirational notes at the gym. So the next person that gets on a machine gets a little extra boost. How fantastic is that?

I am going to sit down and talk to my kids tomorrow and get them involved but please pass this website along and let's all get a little nicer!

Thank you Miss Sherry! You can visit Sherry at her blog. You won't be disappointed!
