Extravaganza ~ Day 14 ~ Kitchen Cleaning Day 1

Welcome to Day 14! Exhausted yet?
I admit I am.

Today we are going to start the kitchen.
The kitchen is my least favorite part of the house to do a deep clean on. It’s obviously the most used room in the house; therefore it is the grossest to clean. I always think that I am so clean until I actually
get on my hands and knees and start cleaning.
Deep cleaning the kitchen is a big task, which means we are going to do it over two days.

I will include a cleaning worksheet with detailed instructions, what order you do then in is up to you. Here are a few tips about cleaning your kitchen that won’t be listed on the worksheet but are useful.

Self-Cleaning  Stove vs. Non – If you have a self-cleaning stove that has a ceramic top, it’s okay to start the self clean and then work on the top of your stove. If you don’t have a self-cleaning stove, I don’t recommend starting to clean the top. Leave your burners and the covers intact so you aren’t letting the fumes of the burnt food into the atmosphere of your home. Plus it is hot!! Safety hazard!

Trim – Trim is my nemesis. I can’t keep it clean and it just looks gross to me when you try and clean it. We bought a spec house so like most homes, the trim is white. As much as I dislike doing it;
there are a few tips to make the job easier.
  • Ensure the trim is vacuumed well. If you haven’t vacuumed it and try to clean it, you will just be wiping all of the dust and grime over your trim. Take your vacuum house and brush if you have one (if not a hose will work well too just takes a little longer) and vacuum the trip back and forth a few times. Make sure you get the top really well and the bottom where dirt can slide underneath.
  • Use rubber gloves for the actual cleaning.
  • Wash with warm soapy water. I like to use part Dawn, part vinegar and warm water.
  •  Let them air dry.
  • Wipe with a sheet of bounce. This helps to repel dust, dirt and pet hair.

    Fridge Don't wash with harsh chemicals. Even warm water will do. Chemicals can seep into the food you put back in.
