$2.00 Monogrammed Rug

I wanted a pretty mat to go on the floor in front of the sink. I didn't want to pay big bucks for one. I wanted the colors to match what I had used in the pantry.

I am in Dollarama for some stuff and I see this little rug with a garden scape. Booyah! The light bulb goes on!

The rug was so cute I almost felt bad painting over it...almost.

It has been very windy here, so I had to actually paint the rug with a roller. Had it not been windy, I would have just used my favorite thing in the world...spray paint!

Sooooo since it was painted with a roller, you are going to have to have some patience. You will need to let it dry completely between coats. The first coat was the longest to dry. I did 5 coats on this baby to make sure none of the garden scene lines were visible.

For the letter T, I just used word and picked a font that I liked. I used the font Elephant. I could have used my cricut but I am gonna be honest, I was too lazy to set it up. Just print out a letter that is a good proportion for your rug. Use a very sharp knife on a cutting surface and once cut out you have your template!
Use spray adhesive or your fingers like me to hold down the template onto the mat. Sorry I didn't get a picture of this stage but you get the idea!

I wanted to embellish the top corners, so I used a little stencil I already had. If you don't have one, you can easily use clipart from the net.

Once everything dries, spray a quick clear coat and voila!
La-ove it!!

Daniela - I just used regular paint but sealed it with a clear coat. I sprayed it twice. :)
